We are a privately owned and operated childcare centre catering for children aged three months to five years, located in the heart of the Whatawhata community.

We have two learning rooms open Monday to Friday, 7.30am to 5.30pm; Anuhe, where children learn and explore until two years of age, and Pūrerehua, where they blossom and grow until they leave for school.

We understand that leaving your precious children in the care of others is a massive step in a family’s life. We work in partnership with whānau to make the transition to early childhood a loving and positive experience.

Children are unique individuals; therefore, our environment, daily routines and curriculum have been designed to allow children to explore, discover, create and learn at their own pace.

In the Anuhe room, our curriculum is inspired by the work of Magda Gerber and Emmi Pikler. We implement a freedom of movement philosophy alongside a primary caregiving approach where each child is allocated a whānau teacher who is primarily responsible for meeting their needs.

The Anuhe learning environment is a home away from home, filled with loving touches and provocations to explore, as well as a large outdoor play space in which to get muddy and explore the natural world.

In the Pūrerehua room, we continue our whānau teaching model, with each child having a whānau teacher who gets to know them well and supports them with their care and learning needs. We encourage children to be active learners, follow their interests and choose their learning directions, supported by teachers who intentionally extend the environment and provide meaningful learning opportunities.

The Pūrerehua learning environment is a child-centred space grounded in free choice play, including a large outdoor playground with room to run, jump, ride bikes, swing high and get muddy.

We are committed to ensuring we can meet all children’s needs, so our centre operates at ratios over and above what the Ministry of Education requires.
